Crossing the USA on I-40
We have now traveled the entire length of Interstate 40. From the eastern end in North Carolina to the western end in California. And then back.
Twice.
Interstate 40 is the third-longest interstate in the United States with a length of 2,556 miles. From east to west, I-40 passes through North Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California. The eastern end of I-40 is in Wilmington, North Carolina with its western end in Barstow, California.
The longest stretch of I-40 is in Tennessee, and the shortest is in California.
The sign in California showing the distance to Wilmington, North Carolina, has been stolen several times. A similar road sign in North Carolina has been stolen so many times that it is no longer being replaced.
Twice is not enough. We're ready to go again.
